Default Why not make Guild Wars and Fractions play at home off line

Miss understood what was written at EBWorld and thought you'd be able to play Fractions by yourself off line.

A quick responce would be too much of a chance for people to cheat. Yes that might be true if...

They made the play at home characters and whatever you might find only for home use and not interchangeable with online play. What's played at home stays at home.

Reasons for this?

For one you won't get bumped out of the game. Another would be to ease traffic at Guildwars.

You'd have to boost the AI and skill levels of Henchmen and an at home model would be nice if you could have some control of the deployment of your group. That would be interesting.

What I like about henchmen is they concentrate their attack, they don't get bumped off line and they don't try to sell you anything nor hold up your group to run potty. It would be nice to be able to tell Alesia to just heal and stay behind the group or furthest away from the enemy.

Whatever I got excited thinking this game was going to have the option of playing off line. Without monthly fees you'd think selling the game and not having to supply internet connection would be a good thing for Guildwars...

I don't do PvP by the way no interest in it at all.

I am sure they can.. but require far more extra coding to the level of almost programing a new game. Also I am sure you will be leaving lots part of the content out (like FoW and such) (or you just cheat to give youself the best of everything, which might shorten the playing life of its online version)

Overall.. not really needed. (but do like to see GW become more directions toward a single player RPG)

Well, it seems like a bad idea to make somethine that calls itself an CORPG and markets itself as an alternative to a MMORPG not online anymore.

However, I would love to play Guild Wars: Fractions

"I'm using numerator"
"I have reduce fraction on me"
"Help! I'm being cross canceled! Someone get that 3/8 off me!"

When GW is has come to an end maybe they Anet will make a single/multi player game of this and one that can be modded by the players.

a huge reason not to? hackers. as of now, it is all on anet servers. when brought home, people will immediately begin hacking into their guys, modifying them to how they want

That is called modding making the game the way you want.I am a super moderator on one of the oldest Star Trek gaming sites and it is one of the things we like mostly of Trek games the moddablity of them.It also keep the player amused and happy and you can have more than one mod to play.

Look I don't know enough to hack my own game and if it is a version for home use only how would others be hacking it?

When I come here with a suggestion I feel like that guy on that commercial who's always wrong.

You mean we don't get French Benefits?

Another thing would be, how would the char limit work? How would it work in case you wanted to play online? Where would the chars and their inventories be stored?

Answers:
The char limit wouldn't work, since it'd get hacked in no time cause the chars would be stored on the computer to allow offline play.

Playing online would then mean you would have to stream all content to the server instead of the opposite as it is now. The server would need to know what chars you have, and their names etc.

The chars and inventories would, as stated, have to be stored on the computer so you wouldn't have to be online to play. It would just be a matter of days before those files would get hacked, giving you the possibility to fill your inventory with anything you desire. ANet, not having anything stored on the servers would have no way of noticing this and everybody would go incredibly rich over night (loose usage of everybody).

In other words, not a good idea, would be to easy to hack without prevention, the GW economy would collape. Sorry to rain on your world, but it just won't happen.

No offense but can't see how that would matter since you're not the only one playing GW.

It's not your client they would hack. They would hack their own and then release the hacks.

Try joing a helpful guild with lots of people when you won't have to deal with all the PUGs. Makes the game a lot more fun.

That would be one of the better this to add in a sig if guru supported it normally (i think they're disabled right now)...ah well.

Ok, to the OP. You know why it's classified under MMORPG? Because it stands for, brace yourself: Massive MULTIPLAYER ONLINE Role Playing Game. See the multiplayer? It means more than 1 player. Online. Self-explanatory. Now, you bought an MMORPG to play online.

Anyway, can you say |-|4x0|2Z ?

Hackers abound, screwed up system, game crashes. This game is based on a delicately balanced economy and skill system. Minor changes can send it haywire.

About the best idea would be the ability to have a different option that is a quick branch off your account. You'd put in create new account, enter your key and choose the option "single-player only account". Of course, you could only make 1 single and 1 multiplayer account per key, and Anet would have to register this, but still. That's putting out the code etc, making it freely moddable, thus giving easier access for hackers to go for the Anet server mainframe.

Oh, and it's FACTIONS not fractions.

I'd like to play this off-line too. Sometimes the server is down, or my internet connection broke. Either way, I am sure they can change the offline gamepart slightly, so it wouldn't be compatible with on-line gaming. Unless Dungeon Siege and Diablo programmers are much better than GW programmers.
I'd like to play this game without people calling me noob, lagging or heaps of spam in the towns. Also it looks like fun to play this game on LAN.
I completely understand where this suggestion comes from. I got this game as a Christmas present, but I will never buy games that are only playable online. Most definitely not WoW, and others that require a constant fee. Only being able to play a game online, puts one completely at the mercy of the server owners and the game upgrades.

No kidding...

Log off the game, log back on 2 days later with 50 Crystalline swords and 5,000 ectos in your inventory. How COULD that have happened...?

there would have to be no item/gold swapping between the @ home editionand the online version. It is clear that without constant streams from ANET servers hackers could easily go wild. Also, many GW players are here for the PvP if u arnt. Personally, i dont see the point in a game which is made by its co-operative elements, in pvp and pve, suddenly becoming a single player game. Would get very boring very quickly imo.
